contract signed

i went to sign the contract yesterday. The first thing that struck me when i saw the contract was the pay range for my pay grade. i am in the middle of my range. The ceiling of my grade is S$600 more than my starting pay. was a bit *argh* when i saw that because this means i could have negotiated for a higher starting pay! but oh well, given times like this, how likely will that be? but i should still have asked. don't ask, don't get. don't try, don't know.

starting pay aside, the benefits are quite good. there is a savings acc which gives 1.5% interest rate per annum. so much better than the banks outside. on top of that, i can claim for my yoga classes, dental treatments, medical expenses of my parents, etc. there's a cap of course, on a per year basis. I think she mentioned that if the cap is not exhausted, it will be brought forward to next year.. or something. i can't remember. only remembered that she said i will not lugi. and other benefits being the u-member. including discounts over gv tix! hee..

the only thing scary abt the contract is the transport part as well the working hours. our hours are fully at the disposal of the organization. we are supposed to sacrifice our off and ph if our service is required at major events. sounds tyrant? hee.. but i think nothing would be as tyrant as my previous place. and for transport, we r required to take the cheapest mode of transport. taxi can only be taken under urgent and unforeseen circumstances. for ulu pandan places which is inaccessible, we can take taxi only from the nearest mrt stations. sounds restricting? Ya.. so am keeping my fingers crossed on that.

another of the benefit is the portable hospital/medical insurance. i already have my ge policies so am supposed to submit the policy for claims. i am quite confused with the various ge policies i have. need to go back today to do detailed comparison. so that i know which one to submit.. and more importantly, if the one offered by co is better at a better rate, no reason for me to carry on with the ge one next y ear. for this year, premiums already paid and it will be real un-nice of me to cancel it cos it's my dear's aunt.

so all in all, i am finally going to experience the benefits, coverage n hr policy of a big organization. and i am excited about the job. excited and nervous. and abit worried about how things will turn out. really hope that all is well. so far this year, i have avoided reading all t hose horoscope stuff. not really purpose avoiding but just not going out of the way to check it. not gg to give myself undue stress. excited! nervous! so it's 19 days to start at new place..
