finally accepted a job...

i had my 2nd interview with WN on monday. the HR offered me face to face. the initial offer wasn't very attractive and the job scope, which was explained to me 3 wks ago, was not very exciting. the industry also wasn't something which I had been targeting and the job prospects is not clear. there isn't any clear/defined career path. So judging by these factors, i would have rejected the job. but the main thing holding me back was: WN is an MNC. And because it is an MNC, there is a possibility that it might offer me more opportunities than what has been spelled out by the marketing head and the HR. If i passed on the chance based on the above factors, am i missing out a good deal that might come along? But if i take up this offer, will the skills acquired served me well in my future career path?? This is a technology company, doing B2B marketing. Will it value add me, since i had been hoping to enter FMCG industry? This was my main dilemma after the interview.

When i got home at night, i chatted with Yan. She gave me her perspective. She agreed with my point that an MNC might have alot to offer. And she also reminded me that my career path and
growth ultimately depends on myself.

She also shared with me that she don't like uncertainty. She don't like to wait day in day out for calls and feeling demoralized when no calls came. So instead of undergoing such agony, she would rather spend the time at a job that comes along and learned about an organization, widening her horizons. I am also rather sick of waiting, feeling demoralized and DREADING pple asking me about job during gatherings/introduction to new friends.

After talking to her, i was quite inclined to grab the opportunity. It is not a perfect match with the job i had been looking for, but i don't know when that ideal job is going to come along. Thus far in my life, i had a couple of disappointments with regards to the things that i want badly. For eg:

1) Most recent one: I really really wanted the job with TNS. I kept hoping i will get it, kept telling myself i will get it. But sadly, i didn't.
2) After 1st 3 months in sajc, i was posted to my first choice: TJ. But after day 1 in TJ, i realized i want to be back at sajc. i went to appeal and at night, i cried to sleep, hoping, wishing, praying that my appeal will be successful. but my appeal wasn't successful.

Was it because my desires in wanting those things are not strong enough or was it because i had been wanting the wrong things? after all, for the jc incident, things turned out well. If i were to re-live my jc life, there is nothing that i want to change. So i guess maybe i should take what comes along and see how life develops.

By the time i am going to bed last night, I am 80% sure i will take the offer. And I felt very relieved. for this job hunt and the absence of vitamin M, a lot of things in my life had stalled. Such as learning driving, SHOPPING (!!!), helping dear with petrol and many other things i can do. It is time to move on!!!

called HR today and re-negotiated for a better pay. i am pleased with the amount reached. I had also just figured out how to get to work in shortest possible time and least walking distance. So now will wait for the HR to confirm start date and preparation of letter of appointment.

Will phone calls start coming in again tomorrow? Well... guess no need put too much hope on that... better to focus on things that are certain.. :) all the best!
