customer service & heels!

haven't posted anything for quite some time.. the biggest things that happened during these 2-3 weeks are:

1) closed deal with A. very big project. PO has yet to come in but preparation to commence is in place. really pray hard that things will turn out fine. the more discussion i have with mr soon, the more worried i am. and it also affirmed my decision below:
2) decided on a time line for myself in this co. the Dday will be 1st Oct. was quite fed up last week. entirely and totally sick of trying to market the business without any framework, without any strategy, without any unique selling point, without any teamwork! i tried to come up with strategy but i am not trained in marketing. it is tough! G got his own way of marketing the business, of finding clients. it is not his style to sit down and plan things out with me. so i seem to be the only one working! and i do not enjoy it. last week, the discussion with mr soon about A's project as well as the chit chat with the workers makes me realise that i am fighting a fruitless battle. these 2 words, 'fruitless battle' just popped up when i was chatting with mich. it just popped out... when i was alone, i thought more about it. it reminded me of jc days... reminded me of my eca captain then. she was an experienced vball player (not fantastic... just experienced) while the rest of the team are all newbies to the game. she don't like to train with us and she does not want to be part of the team because she feels that she is fighting a fruitless battle. i despise her for that. But i am also opting out of a fruitless battle now. i wonder if i am just being like her! if yes, i should despise myself! but i came to the conclusion i am not. i am willing to fight a fruitless battle so long everyone is fighting. ultimately, it's the process that matters. not the end result. this has been my philosophy for years. but in this situation, i am the only one fighting. G is putting more efforts and attention on his business while boss is too exhausted by probs of his other biz to have any energy for us. furthermore, he doesn't even see eye to eye with what we would like to do. i don't blame G for focusing more on his own business. Boss has not been appreciative of him and it is really a torture to work for someone like him. i am all alone and really still green. i would like to develop my strength and capabilities. and sadly, current co is not the place.

had already voiced out to G and told him that i'll be leaving in about 6 months time. main reason is cos i would like to see the completion of A's proj. i really don't want to let them down. i'll try very hard.

had been thinking of what i would like to do. came across a position in Recruit 3 wks back. it's a Customer Touchpoint Support Executive - doing things like observing how clients are being served in retail outlets, how's the display, analysing client feedback, recommending training for front-line staff. sounds vibrant and interesting! interaction with people and away from any sales-related figures. after almost 2 yrs on this job, i have come to realise that i am a lousy sales person and a lousy entrepreneur. nothing wrong with that, i feel. i don't intend to brush out alot of those. instead, i would like to go into areas that uses more of my talents. i am always thinking a lot for customers, always taking note of people's service. so i guess this position sounds suitable.

went thinking deeper... wondering whether to take up marketing course with CIM. of course it's going to be costly. but getting myself armed with more marketing knowledge is going to be useful. especially when i have little customer service experience. (customer service is part of marketing/branding, i feel). will be checking out further on course fees.

now i am reading a book on customer service: Kindness Revolution by Ed Horrell. It's interesting! and so coincidentally, there are 2 articles in Recruit this wkend on customer service. Maybe i ought to write into one of the consulting firm to ask for a job. but of course, not so soon. since my Dday still got some time away.

Oh! I bought a pair of heels from Pedal Works! It's the highest heels i have ever bought! and it's comfortable!! i walked around in it on Friday! Went to boss's place, went to exhibition, went out with mich & gang. was walking around in it for the whole day!! it's comfortable... only that towards late afternoon, feet getting tired after being tilted for so long. till now it still hurts but i am very pleased with the purchase. and i was thinking maybe i can take up a marketing position with the company! help them to market and improve their customer touchpoints! the first area to work on will be the staff's outfit! :) just thinking.. :)

ok, it's getting late. new staff coming in tomorrow. got to go in early.

bye!
